So I finally upgraded to a full JB4 on my i. I picked one up from a forum member who was selling the latest JB4 model, bluetooth connect kit, and aluminum enclosure.
The one caveat was it was missing the flex fuel wires. The installation is pretty straight forward until you get to the flex fuel wires. Getting to the flex fuel wires is very difficult unless you remove the drivers side cowl.
If you are not installing flex fuel wires the installation is a breeze, like 15 minutes tops. If you are installing flex fuel wires it will take a little longer. For the ground wire I choose to use this location near the hood release mechanism, any bare metal will do. Where I grounded the JB4 Using your zipties mount the JB4 in an area of your choice, I found the area suggested by BMS to be pretty solid although having the aluminum chassis I was a bit worried about it sliding over and touching the battery jump start post.
I opted to insulate the box with some black tape just in case. Reconnect your positive battery cable, install your engine foam, cowl covers, etc… and you should be good to go. Visit the n54 tech forums, update to the latest firmware, ensure all settings are set to default and enjoy. These are old instructions for the old JB4 revisions, the newer JB4 revisions come with the flex fuel wires and they are not green, they are black.
In case anyone else comes across this issue with cut JB4 flex fuel wires or missing flex fuel wires here is what you need to do in order to install a new flex fuel wiring harness. Pinned and stripped end on new flex fuel harness. Does the stripped wire just go in like that without a pin?

We had a customer who owns a raptor bring in his truck and we'd pop one in. They originally sent out a "stg1" which was to get some feed back- that's what this was, and then released the "JB4" which is what we normally put on BMW's. First off, open the truck and hood, and put your keys away from the truck.
Let it sit for about 15 minutes. So how i did it, was I popped this rubber plug back, and ran the ribbon cable thru here. Plug it into the OBD port. Put the JB4 near the batter here. Simply unplug and connect the JB4 in line with the plugs on the front MAP sensor going into the throttle, and on top of the intake. Then, connect the OBD connector, and kinda run it across the top of the engine bay.Compatible both as stand alone tuning systems or in conjunction with performance flash maps where logging, safety, and fine tuning tools are desirable.
See notes below for each application. F Series N Motor is misfire prone at higher boost levels, often requiring new plugs, coils, or fuel injectors. The BCM is an optional add on and suggested for those planning on running higher boost levels and also attaches to the DME connectors using plug and play wiring pins.
While the system is technically plug and play and fully reversible, it does involve disassembling and reassembling the DME's electrical connectors to insert the pins.
For boost levels over map1 extra fuel pressure wires are suggested which connect to the end of each fuel rail under the airboxes. We suggest verifying which ones you need before ordering the fuel pressure connectors to add on. The BCM is suggested for map levels over map1 and attaches to the boost solenoids under the passenger side intercooler.
Note boost on fuel gauge is also enabled on this run.

This CANbus connectivity which is the vehicle data network also allowes the JB4 to access and incorporate all engine data in it's tuning strategies, incorporate unique safety features such as keeping boost pressure low until oil and water is up to temperature to provide proper engine and turbo lubrication, and drop to a low boost map if the engine starts to over heat, run lean, excessively knock, or over boost.
This creates a three dimensional tune where the JB4 does not need to start working based on boost pressure and rpm but also looks at pedal position creating a more refined power delivery. What does the fuel plug do: The fuel plug increases the fuel rail pressure which in turn creates more fuel volume per injector cycle. Without this connection the JB4 relies more on the ECU for fuel compensation and with it attached the unmeasured boost is matched with rail pressure keeping the ECU adaption levels to a minimum. The connection is compulsory for ethanol mixes and on cars with standard fuel it is recommended to connect it as it does smoothen the power delivery to a extent.

I decided on the JB4 over the RaceChip because it is made in USA and seems to have more online product support, as well as a much larger consumer base where the product has been tried and tested on Stingers.

I'm going to fit my jb4 this afternoon which I bought from MGD, all seems pretty clear as we've laid the harness over the engine and it's mostly just plug and play by the looks of it, the hardest part appears to be the two wires which have to be tapped in to, does anyone have a clear picture of this connection?

For a new install, this is the way to go, despite it involving running cables thru the bulkhead [same grommet as bonnet pull cable]. Sorry I'm crap at electrical lingo so could explain in more detail for me please and tell me what I should be buying electrical connection wise please?

What's this for? This was tapped to the loom, can't see where it goes. Got the fuel rail plug in place, got 3 other plugs in place, just taken the undercowl off inside the car.
